The useful details
Privacy
Keeping your messages and details treated with care.
Something Worth Making (SWM) is an independent UK cookbook project operated by R. West. We respect your privacy and only use personal information as described here.
Who we are
Something Worth Making is responsible for the information covered by this notice. For enquiries and questions about your data, contact [email protected].
What we collect and why
Messages and contact form: if you email us or send a message through the website, we receive the name and email address you provide, your selected recipe or topic, the message, and relevant correspondence. We use these details to reply, consider recipe feedback and deal with enquiries. We rely on our legitimate interests in communicating with readers and running SWM. The website form sends your message securely through Cloudflare Email Service to our dedicated SWM Gmail inbox; it does not create a separate subscriber list or store submissions in a website database.
Website visits: Cloudflare, our hosting and security provider, may process technical data such as IP addresses, browser details and requested pages to deliver and protect the site. Our legitimate interest is in keeping the website available and secure. Your browser may also connect to jsDelivr to load the Bookman typeface.
Spam protection: our contact form uses Cloudflare Turnstile to check that submissions are genuine. Cloudflare processes technical information as part of that security check. If the secure form is temporarily unavailable, you can contact us directly by email. The free booklet can still be downloaded without providing a name or email address.
Who handles information
We use Cloudflare for website hosting and security. Cloudflare Email Routing forwards direct emails to our dedicated Google Gmail inbox. Cloudflare Email Service sends website form enquiries to that same inbox. Google stores our correspondence. jsDelivr serves the website's Bookman font files. We do not sell your information or use it for advertising. Providers may process data outside the UK; relevant transfer protections apply where required, and further details can be requested from us.
How long we keep it
We keep routine correspondence only as long as needed to answer or follow up, and aim to review and delete ordinary enquiries within 12 months of the last exchange. Some records may be kept longer where needed for legal obligations or disputes. Technical security data is retained according to our service providers' arrangements.
Your rights
Depending on the circumstances, you may ask to access, correct or delete your information, restrict its use, or object to processing based on legitimate interests. You can contact us at [email protected] about these rights or to raise a concern. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office.
Cookies
We do not currently add advertising trackers or non-essential analytics. Cloudflare may use essential security measures to deliver and protect the site. We will review this notice if our website services change.
